Dan Scarberry has 45 years in the gas pipeline industry with 40 years working in the control room at Columbia Gas Transmission and Dominion Energy Ohio. Dan was a shift controller for 13 years and in control room supervision for 27 years. Most recently he was Gas Control manager at Dominion from 2001 until his retirement in 2018.

Dan has been a SCADA display designer since 1982 and has been instrumental in working with PHMSA through the AGA in the development of the CRM rule, 192.631. At the AGA Dan has shared Dominion’s Control Room Management plan to help other companies develop their own plans. Dan has developed and implemented Dominion’s alarm rationalization procedures and alarm management plan. He has led 4 CRM audits over the past 8 years.

In addition to managing the staffing for Dominion’s 24/7 control room operations to maintain service to 1.2 million Ohio customers, Dan also worked closely with Marketing to utilize Dominion’s transmission pipelines to provide transportation services to several Utica shale suppliers.

Dan is a past chairman on the AGA Gas Control Committee as well as a past member of the Ohio/Kentucky, Mid-Atlantic and Southern Gas Association Gas Control Committees. Dan has participated on the AGA white paper on automated shut off valves as well as several Gas Control Committee white papers, and has done customer presentations at the Schneider Electric (now Aveva) technical conferences in Banff, Canada.

After retiring, Dan and his wife relocated from Cleveland to Winchester, Virginia, to be closer to their 9 grandchildren and 4 of their 7 children.
